Where to Get Digital past Papers

SQA Digital Past Papers and Digital Answer Booklets

You can download Digital Past Papers for all subjects from SQA's web site.

These are free to download and use for revision and practice, and they are a great way to get familiar with using the technology.

You can get:

  • 'Question and answer papers' - with answer boxes
(SQA refer to this as a 'Structured Question Paper')
  • 'Question-only papers' - without answer boxes
(SQA refer to this as an 'Unstructured Question Paper')
  • Digital answer booklets to use with the Question-only papers.

For 2021, you can also get new assessments from SQA's secure siteSQA say that the new question papers can "be used in full or in part". Note that these new question papers do not have answer boxes (as of 8/3/21) although I am hopeful that SQA will adapt them with answer boxes in the near future.

GCSE & GCE Past Papers

Ordinary PDFs of Past Papers are available from the GCSE and GCE awarding bodies. They are PDF versions of the past papers and non-interactive (they don't have answer boxes) and the text is not always accurately read with computer text readers, but they are still useful for revision and practice because many candidates do not need to use text readers.

If you want modified, more accessible PDFs - for example, Pearson can provide interactive papers with answer boxes - then contact the awarding body directly:
