What PDF apps are there?

What we recommend...

We like ClaroPDF or PDF Expert for accessing Digital Question Papers because:

  • they have text-to-speech for reading the questions
  • and you can type into answer boxes.

If you want to try out Digital Question Papers on an iPad, we suggest starting with ClaroPDF Free, because it's free and has good text reading and annotation tools.

If you like it, purchase ClaroPDF Pro (£4.99) which has:

  • better voices (including Fiona and Heather, which are Scottish voices);
  • folders for file management;
  • and audio voice note recording.

You should also look at PDF Expert (£7.99): it may be easier to integrate into school IT systems than ClaroPDF, and it lets you swap between two PDFs more quickly than you can with ClaroPDF.

We don't recommend Adobe Acrobat Reader because it doesn't have text-to-speech.
